A former cheerleader for the Baltimore Ravens has pleaded guilty to the rape of a 15-year-old boy and will now be registered as a sex offender.
The 48-year old pleaded guilty yesterday in court and she was sentenced to two years probation, with every second weekend to be in custody. She will also be registered as a sex offender for the rest of her life.
Shattuck was sentenced to 15 years behind bars but the judge suspended the term.
The victim's parents will receive $10,000 from Shattuck as restitution and she will also pay for the boy's therapy but the parents had called for Shattuck to be locked up.
“What she did to my son is heinous ... she stole his innocence,” the victim’s mother told the court.
Shattuck was deeply apologetic in court, saying: “I take full responsibility for what I did. I never, ever, ever intended, obviously, to hurt anybody. I will spend the rest of my life making this right.”
Shattuck's own 15-year-old son is said to have texted the victim: “Call my mom. She thinks you’re hot” and that the matter escalated from there.
The crime took place at a holiday home in Delaware in August last year, where Shattuck gave the underage boy alcohol before the sexual activity took place.
“This was not a momentary lapse in judgment,” prosecutor John Donahue told the court. “She groomed him, seduced him, supplied him with alcohol, then took advantage of him, all for her own gratification.”
Shattuck's defence argued she had had 'struggles throughout her life' and her husband had left her for a younger woman.
In 2005 Shattuck became the oldest ever MFL cheerleader when she won a job with the Baltimore Ravens and she was on their cheer squad for two years, and was a coach for six.
She was also a fitness consultant and wrote a book on the subject called Vibrant Living (main pic)
