Hunt: The Irishman police are seeking in relation to the assault
Police in the UK have released a CCTV image of an Irish man who they believe is responsible for a savage unprovoked assault in Manchester.
An innocent man suffered a shattered jaw when he was attacked by a young stranger outside of a takeaway in the Rochdale area of the city.
The 39-year-old victim was standing outside of a popular eatery in the South Parade area when the man- who spoke with an Irish accent - attacked him.
The incident occurred shortly after 5am on July 26.
Investigators say the offender attacked him for no reason. He was described as white, slim with brown hair.
Det Con Gabriel Gibson said: “For reasons known only to the offender, he launched into a needless and unprovoked attack on this man, leaving him with a broken jaw and an injury to his foot.
"It’s possible this attack was induced by alcohol or drugs but we cannot say for certain – all we can say with any certainty is that this was an unprovoked attack that left a man with a broken jaw.
“We have issued a CCTV still, and I would appeal to anyone who recognises the man in this image to come forward.
Anyone with information is asked to call Crimestoppers on 044 800 555 111.
