Gardai are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the attacks to come forward

Two young men are in hospital fighting for their lives after two separate attacks in the capital.

A man in his 20s was hospitalised with serious stab injuries after an attack just off O'Connell Street.

The young man suffered stab wounds to his stomach at approximately 10.20pm on Cavendish Row. 

According to reports he was able to make it to a nearby hotel for assistance for collapsing outside. 

Emergency services were called by hotel staff and the man was rushed to hospital.

He is currently being treated at the Mater Hospital for serious injuries. 

In a separate attack, a man in his early 20s was seriously injured when he was set upon by several men wielding metal poles. 

The attack occurred shortly after 11.35pm in the Willow Wood Walk area of Blanchardstown in north Dublin. 

It is believed the 20-year-old man suffered serious head injuries during the assault. 

He was rushed to nearby James Connolly Hospital where he is being treated for his injuries. It is believed he is in critical but stable condition. 

Gardai are appealing for anybody who may have witnessed the attacks to come forward.
