The massive haul of cigarettes discovered at Dublin Port
Revenue have seized a massive haul of smuggled cigarettes that were destined for the Irish market.
During the course of an intelligence led operation at the weekend, eight million cigarettes were discovered.
Officers stopped a Latvian registered truck and trailer which arrived in the port from Rotterdam.
Sniffer dog Casey (below) found the cigarettes which had been concealed within window frames.
The brands uncovered were ‘Minsk Capital’, ‘NZ Gold’ and ‘Pect’ brand cigarettes and they are believed to have come from Belarus.
The value of the cigarettes is estimated to be €4million and an investigation is ongoing.
