Missing: Eiji Takagi (63) and Ushio Azaki (61)
Gardai have released fresh CCTV images of two tourists who have been missing since the weekend.
Authorities say they are "very concerned" for the missing couple, whose rental vehicle was discovered in a car park at George's Head car park, Kilkee, County Clare.
The two Japanese tourists reported missing failed to show up for their flight, Gardai said yesterday.
Eiji Takagi (63) and Ushio Azaki (61), who are both Japanese nationals, checked out of hotel accommodation in Spanish Point on Saturday morning.
Their rental vehicle was parked at George's Head car park at about 9pm that night but has remained there ever since.
The couple were due to take a flight from Shannon Airport on Monday via Heathrow Airport for onward connection to Tokyo, but they failed to show.
A search operation is ongoing in conjunction with An Garda Síochána and the Irish Coast Guard.
Investigating Gardaí are appealing for anyone with information in relation to the whereabouts of the couple or to any person who may have seen their car prior to its finding in Kilkee to contact Kilrush Garda Station on 065 908 0550, the Garda Confidential Line 1 800 666 111 or any Garda Station.
The rental vehicle is a red Hyundai with registration plate 151-D-23003.
