Gardai in Bailieboro are investigating a single vehicle fatal road traffic collision which occurred at Carrickatober, Co Cavan in the early hours of this morning.
Gardai were alerted to the collision at approximately 7.30am this morning, which happened on the road from Crosskeys to Ballyjamesduff Road, about one kilometre on the Ballyjamesduff side of Crosskeys.
The female driver, said to be in her late 20s, and the sole occupant of the car was fatally injured in the collison when her car left the road and she was pronounced dead at the scene.
Her body has been removed to the mortuary at Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Navan.
The road is currently closed to facilitate a forensic collision examination and diversions are in place.
