The murder accused and his wife in custody in Bandar Lampung
A newlywed man in Indonesia is alleged to have murdered the suspected rapist of his wife before cutting off the man's penis, cooking it and eating it.
Rudi Efendi, 30, was arrested this week in Jakarta.
The mutilated body of a man was found in a burnt out car near the city in early October. Local press report that police discovered that the man had suffered wounds to the head and body and that his genitals had been cut off.
Police eventually identified Efendi, and his new wife Nuriah as suspects.
When quizzed by police local media claim that Efendi admitted to the murder, claiming he acted alone.
He is also alleged to have admitted to eating the suspected rapist's penis as a way to 'cure my heartache'.
AFP report that Nuriah told her husband to be about the alleged rape a week before their marriage.
They also quote local police. Sulistyaningsih, a local police spokeswoman, told AFP: "The case is still under investigation but we strongly suspect that this is a premeditated murder."
