Mr Farrelly's body is removed from the scene in Dublin's north inner city
Two women charged with murder of a man who was gunned down in Dublin city-centre last year have been served with books of evidence and returned for trial to the Central Criminal Court.
Kieran Farrelly, from Tallaght, died following a gun attack at Killarney Court, an apartment complex off Killarney St, in north inner city Dublin on the night of October 26th last year.
The 33-year-old man was shot in the head and upper body in front of his girlfriend.
On October 21st last, Laura Dempsey (25), who is of no fixed address, was remanded in custody by Dublin District Court after she was charged with Mr Farrelly's murder. She has since been granted bail terms.
After the charge was put to Ms Dempsey, she replied: “I did not kill Kieran Farrelly”.
On the following day, co-accused Yasmin Stephens (21), of Albert College Avenue, Glasnevin, Dublin 9, was brought before the court, charged with Mr Farrelly's murder. She was also remanded in custody.
The DPP had needed additional time to prepare evidence for their trial and the case was adjourned until today when they appeared again at Dublin District
Court and were served with books of evidence. They were notified that if they intended to rely on alibis in their defence they must notify the prosecution.
Judge Michael Walsh made an order sending them forward for trial to the Central Criminal Court where they will face their next hearing later this month.
