The checkpoint on the M1 yesterday
The latest push by Operation Thor produced a number of arrests for a variety of offences.
The initiative, launched by the Gardai to target criminals using the motorway network, was out in force on the M1 between 2am and 12 noon yesterday.
The operation resulted in the seizure of 14 cars for breaches of the Road Traffic Act and 10 arrests.
The arrests included 7 for drink driving, one male for a European Arrest Warrant, and one under the Finance Act concerning the sale of cigarettes of which 11,000 were seized.
There were also a number of Road Traffic Offences for which Fixed Charge Penalty Notices were issued.
The operation was a combined effort from the Divisional Crime Task Force and Detective units from Santry along with the assistance of Traffic Units from Dublin Castle and DMR North.
