Gardai in Carrickmacross are investigating a two vehicle fatal road traffic collision that occurred on the N2 between Carrickmacross and Castleblayney this morning at approximately 6am.
Both male drivers of the two trucks involved, whose ages at this stage are unknown, were fatally injured.
They were the sole occupants of the vehicles.
One of the bodies has been removed from the scene and taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital in Drogheda, the other one remains at the scene.
This stretch of road is currently closed to facilitate an examination by Garda Forensic Collision Investigators and local diversions are in place.
It is expected that the road will remain closed for the next number of hours.
