Daniel Holtzclaw
A police officer who preyed on women who had trouble with the law has been handed a 263 year sentence.
29-year-old disgraced Oklahoma City police officer Daniel Holtzclaw was convicted of raping and sexually assaulting women while on duty.
He ran background checks and targeted women with outstanding warrants, previous arrests or carried drugs or drug paraphernalia, in the hope that their word wouldn’t stand up against his.
Holtzclaw was charged with sexually assaulting and raping 13 women and found guilty of 18 of the 36 charges, including four of the six rape charges.
Thirteen women took the stand in the trial, telling jurors of sex assaults and ranged from touching over their clothes to forced oral sex and rape.
District Judge Timothy Henderson said Holtzclaw will serve the terms consecutively and denied his request for an appeal bond.
Holtzclaw’s attorney said he will be appealing the sentence.
