It'll be windy and wild out there today
A thousand homes are without power this morning as gales upwards of 130 kph downed power lines throughout the country.
The ESB are reporting widespread power outages in County Donegal after the arrival of Storm Henry, the eighth seasonal storm front to hit Ireland in the last few months.
Some 1029 homes in Dungloe are suffering faults currently, while there are minor outages in Mohill, Abbeyfeale, and Deerpark.
Met Éireann have issued an orange weather warning for counties along the western coast, and two yellow alerts have gone out advising of strong winds and stormy weather.
The warnings are due to remain in effect until almost midnight on Monday.
Donegal, Galway, Letrim, Mayo, Sligo, Clare, Cork, Kerry and Limerick have all been warned by the forecaster to expect winds to reach speeds upwards of 130 km/hr.
These gales are due to peak this afternoon.
A second yellow weather alert has been issued for those counties along the Atlantic coast, warning that waves could reach heights of between 12 to 15 metres.
Meanwhile Leinster, Cavan, Monaghan, Roscommon, Tipperary and Waterford should also anticipate strong winds, the forecaster said.
"Gusts of between 90 and 110 km/h are expected during Sunday night and will continue through to Monday evening, when they are expected to peak.”
It will continue to be very windy early tonight and stormy near the northwest and north coasts, said Met Éireann.
“The weather will gradually eases overnight… with the storm mainly bringing drizzle and some showery spells which will become more prolonged as the day goes on.”
Frosty conditions are expected, and AA Roadwatch and Gardaí are asking motorists to take care when they set out each morning.
Aside from the high winds, the weather will remain unsettled for much of the rest of the week.
