The arrests were made as part of Operation Thor
In a targetted operation in the south east of the country the Gardai have arrested five people, including two juveniles, in connection with a spate of burglaries.
Four males, one of whom was a juvenile and one female juvenile, were arrested following a number of planned searches in Portlaoise, Kilkenny and Waterford this morning.
The three arrested men, aged 21, 28, 30, plus the juvenile, are currently detained under Section 50 of the Criminal Justice Act, 2007 at various Garda Stations throughout the region.
The young girl is detained at Kilkenny Garda Station under Section 4 of the Criminal justice Act, 1984.
The operation was conducted as part of investigations into recent burglaries in the region and to combat organised criminal activity.
An amount of property, believed to be stolen, was also seized during the searches.
