Gardaí have arrested two men and a woman following a robbery at a shop in Cork yesterday.

Two masked raiders entered a shop on St Mary’s Road in Cork city at approximately 4.25pm.

One of the raiders was armed with a hammer and he threatened the female shop assistant and forced her to hand over a quantity of cash from the till.

Both raiders exited the shop and ran down Strawhall onto Farran Street, where they got into a small silver hatchback car.

Details of the incident were circulated and at approximately 5.10 p.m. a Garda patrol car intercepted the car at St. John’s Well.

The occupants of the car, two men in their 20s and a woman in her 20s were arrested and brought to Mayfield and the Bridewell Garda Stations where they were detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.

All three have now been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the Director of Public Prosecutions.
