Gardai are appealing for witnesses to a fatal collision which occurred in the early hours of the morning.
Officers in Louth are investigating the single vehicle fatal road collision which occurred close to Brannigan's Cross on the Collon to Tinure Road.
At approximately 1am, a 32-year-old man suffered serious injuries when the vehicle he was driving left the road and struck a ditch.
The motorist, who was the sole occupant of the vehicle, was taken to Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital, Drogheda by emergency services.
However, he was pronounced dead a short time later.
The scene has been preserved for Garda Forensic Collision Investigators, who will carry out an investigation of the area.
Diversions are in place, Gardai said.
Gardaí are appealing for witnessess to the fatal collision.
In particular they are appealing to anyone who was travelling the Collon-Tinure Road between 12.30am and 1am to contact them at Ardee on 041 6871130, the Garda Confidential Line, 1800 666111 or any Garda Station.
