A LIMERICK youth is facing trial accused of a breaking a red light and dangerous driving causing serious harm to a woman in Dublin.
Eric Ryan, 18, of Cliona Park in Moyross, in Limerick City, is charged with dangerous driving, driving through a red light and causing injury to a named woman in is her thirties who suffered serious pelvis and leg injuries following an incident at Clanbrassil Street on February 6th last.
He was aged 17 at time of the alleged incident but had reached adulthood when he was charged.
State solicitor Terence Hamilton told Judge John O'Connor at the Dublin Children's Court that the case was “dangerous driving causing serious harm”.
The DPP has directed that the teen must be tried on indictment in the circuit court which has wider sentencing powers. The youth, who has not yet entered a plea, was ordered to appear again in five weeks when he is to be served with a book of evidence and returned for trial.
