Shooting: Gardai are at the scene in Clonsilla

A man who was shot a number of times in the capital has died of his wounds.

Two men received gunshot wounds during the attack in Clonsilla in north Dublin at approximately 6pm this evening. 

They were rushed to hospital following the shooting, which occurred near the Shelerin Road area of Clonsilla/Coolmine. 

The attack took place close to St. Phillip's Church at Mountview, which is located close to St. Phillip's National School.

It is believed the gunman, who was disguised as a woman, entered  a building which houses a neighbourhood youth project and shot an individual who was present upwards of seven times. A bystander was hit in the arm.  

The man, who is in his 30s, was rushed to nearby Connolly Hospital in critical condition.

However, he has been pronounced dead. 

The area has been sealed off and Gardai are at the scene, which is being preserved for a forensic examination.

His body will be removed to the City Morgue for a post-mortem examination.

The office of the State Pathologist has been notified.
